It's been a long time! I don't know exactly when the last time I finished a model was, but it was sometime in May 2014. (I know this because that is when I uploaded pictures to my Fotki) Until today, that is! My Ford Torino, which was shown in my progress post last month, has now joined the ranks of finished models. I will get some "studio" Photos soon but for now I'm going to enjoy these outdoor shots....
There was zero chance I was going to build this as the Starsky & Hutch car that it's labeled on the box as. I love 70s cars and am waiting patiently for the wagon of this bodystyle to become available in resin. A 1974 wagon was our family daily driver until 1991 or so.

March 2016 HVHMG Meeting
I made it to my second HVHMG meeting in 2016. That is a big improvement over 2015 where I didn't make my second meeting of the year until October.
I also took part in a dry-brushing seminar. I've never actually done it before...but I enjoyed it and I don't think I did all that badly!
We also got to see a genuine World War II radio which was very interesting.

My first ever dry brushing attempt...not perfect but not too bad either! |

An actual progress report!
It's been a long time since I had any progress to show. My modeling skills have seemingly left me. But I still keep trying.
2015 was the first year I didn't finish anything since I began building in 1999. I am determined to change that...
First thing I worked on this year was one of those photo-etched models...I've never attempted one before. It's tough...made tougher by the sub-par directions...I've made a few mistakes but I will get there. My pictures today stink- I took 4, all are crap. But I'm posting some anyway because I want to have something to post and don't feel like getting my photo setup out. Before I attempted this I had never done anything with photo-etch beyond adding a script to one model...definitely a big step here.
Today (2/20/16) it reached 60 degrees so I was able to make some progress on my Torino. Not sure if I've shown it on the blog before but today I did the decaling and cleared it. I rarely clear over decals- this is only the second or third time I've ever done it. In retrospect I should have BMFed the scripts, instead of using the decals. The side marker lights and door locks are also decals.
It's not quite dry so the picture is not great. But it shows the shine and it shows the Ford decals and others. Close enough! I am hoping to get this done in time for the NNL East in April.

January 2016 HVHMG Meeting
Went to my first meeting of the year tonight. I didn't get to a single meeting of either club until the summer in 2015 so that's a better start already.
